About Sierra
I am a senior Astrophysics and Mathematics Honors student at the University of Florida. I am a part of the University Scholars Program as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scholar for the 2024-2025 academic year. After undergrad, I plan on beginning a PhD program in either Astronomy or Data Science. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing cello, scuba diving, and building LEGO.
My Story
As a multiracial woman and first generation student in STEM, I have experienced firsthand the difficulties that come with being in an underrepresented group in academia. I am dedicated to serving organizations at UF such as the Women in Astronomy and Astrophysics Mentoring Program (WAAM!) and the Society of Women in Physics (SWiP) which help empower other students in astronomy and physics who have similar backgrounds and experiences as I do.
